The Daga-La 1000 Lakes Trek is a captivating journey for nature enthusiasts and high-altitude adventurers. This trek immerses hikers in a picturesque environment adorned with alpine wildflowers, numerous enchanting high-altitude lakes, and pastoral scenes of yak pastures dotted with stone houses belonging to nomadic herders. Weather permitting, trekkers are rewarded with breathtaking vistas of Himalayan peaks, including Mt. Jomolhari (7326m), Mt. Jichu Drakey (6794m), Mt. Masang Gang (7165m), and Mt. Gangchen Ta (6794m), enhancing every step of the trekking experience.

Fitness Requirements: The Daga-La 1000 Lakes Trek is challenging, reaching its highest campsite at 14,104 ft / 4300 m and ascending to 15,416 ft / 4700 m. A high level of physical fitness and endurance is essential to safely enjoy this trek. We recommend pre-trek training to ensure a rewarding experience across Bhutan’s demanding high-altitude terrains.

Team and Gear: Our treks are supported by a skilled team, including a certified guide, chef, and helpers. Ponies and yaks transport equipment such as dining and toilet tents, sleeping tents, mattresses, collapsible tables and chairs, dishes, and warm water for morning washes. A basic first aid kit and beverages are also provided to ensure comfort and safety.

Dining on the Trek: All meals are included, combining local and continental dishes prepared fresh in camp. Breakfast may include toast, juice, milk, coffee, tea, cereal, fruits, pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage. Lunch is typically a hot packed meal, while dinners feature a mix of fresh meats, vegetarian options, and local specialties.

Accommodation: Campsites are carefully selected near water sources, amidst pine forests, scenic spurs, or lakes, prioritizing cleanliness, comfort, and tranquility.

Travel Insurance: Comprehensive travel insurance covering health, trekking, and unforeseen events is compulsory. Wild Mountain Adventure is not liable for natural disasters or other circumstances beyond control.

Day 01: Paro Arrival

Day 02: Hotel – Tiger’s Nest

  • Early start for a drive to Tiger’s Nest.

  • Descend to visit historic Kyechu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.

Day 03: Paro Hotel to Gynekha – Gur

Day 04: Gur to Labatamba
