The Druk Path Trek stands out as one of Bhutan’s most breathtaking and sought-after short treks, spanning six days at high altitudes. Beginning above the Ta Dzong, now a national museum, the trail winds through farmsteads, villages, and apple orchards. Throughout the journey, trekkers encounter verdant valleys, secluded monasteries, and mountain passes adorned with vibrant prayer flags. On clear days, the panoramic views reveal snow-capped peaks against a backdrop of sheer mountain ranges. Notably, the trek is renowned for its high-altitude lakes brimming with fish and the picturesque landscape featuring lush green valleys and dense blue pine and rhododendron forests, particularly enchanting in May.
Fitness Requirements: Participating in any of our unique treks demands a significant level of physical fitness and endurance to both complete and enjoy the experience. The trails often lead through extensive and demanding terrains of Bhutan at consistently high elevations. We advise all our esteemed trekkers to engage in physical training well before embarking on their trekking adventure.
Team and Gear: Planet Pulse Tours & Treks boasts a team of skilled professionals. Our support crew includes a certified guide, a chef, and several helpers. The treks employ ponies and yaks, guided by their owners, who ensure the campsite is ready upon your arrival. Our equipment includes dining and toilet tents, either dome or A-frame sleeping tents for two, mattresses, collapsible tables and chairs, dishes, and washing basins with warm water for morning cleanses. Additionally, we bring along a basic first aid kit and beverages.
Dining on the Trek: All meals are provided, featuring a mix of local and continental dishes prepared in camp with fresh, healthy ingredients sourced from local markets. Breakfast options typically include toast, juice, milk, coffee, tea, cereal, fruits, bacon or sausage, pancakes, and eggs. For lunch, we often pack a hot meal, while dinner menus vary to include a selection of fresh meats like grilled items, fish, chicken, pork, and beef, along with a vegetarian option and local specialties.
Accommodation: Our campsites vary, located near water sources, amidst pine forests, beautiful hinterlands, or scenic spurs offering tranquility and picturesque views, beside lakes, or in remote, untouched natural settings. We prioritize clean and existing campsites for our stays.
Travel Insurance: This is compulsory. Wild Mountain Adventure is not liable for unexpected events such as natural disasters that may impact the trip. You must have comprehensive travel insurance covering all anticipated activities, including any health and fitness issues, losses, or other unforeseen events beyond our control.
Eco-friendly Trekking: As members of the global community, we urge our trekkers to join us and the Bhutanese people in a commitment to conserve Bhutan’s pristine environment. We emphasize the importance of respect, preservation, and non-pollution of the natural surroundings to protect the threatened ecosystems.
Packing Essentials: Opt for a large, soft duffle bag with multiple handles over a traditional backpack. It will be enclosed in a plastic liner and placed in a hessian sack for transport by pack animals. Your personal daypack should be lightweight, carrying only essentials like your camera, toiletries, rain gear, and first aid items. The bulk of your gear will be transported by pack horses or yaks to ensure the camp is ready each evening. Please limit your belongings to a maximum of 15kg for the pack animals.
